         Grammatik 5 - version 1.0 - May 15, 1993

This file contains the latest information about Grammatik 5.

 - If you have a monochrome monitor and a color card (as is the
case with most laptops), it may be difficult to read Grammatik
screens. You can solve this in any one of three ways:

   1. Add the statement: "MODE BW80" to your AUTOEXEC.BAT file.
                      - or -
   2. Start Grammatik 5 with the monochrome switch by typing the
command: "gmk -m" at the command line.
                      - or -
   3. At the Grammatik 5 main screen, use the "Preferences" menu,
select "Screen attributes," and then select one of the
      Black and White screen options.
+
 - For multi-user licensing and network information, view or print
the Word file NETWORK.DOC on your distribution disk.

 - If your word processor is Microsoft Word 5 or later, you can
run it with "hot key" access to Grammatik 5 using the GMKWP
program. Below is important information about using GMKWP:
   - If your Word file has never been saved, be sure to save it
before running Grammatik. Do NOT save as RTF format. The
file format of the file you are proofreading MUST match the
Grammatik's default Word Processor, displayed on Grammatik's
main screen (usually Microsoft Word 4,5,5.5,6.0).
   - If, after the File Save As dialog box appears, Word displays
another dialog box ("File already exists", for example) Word
will beep. This means Grammatik will not run. You must
choose File/Exit after the file has been successfully saved.
   - Grammatik's hot key will not work if the "Use Word 5.0 Function Keys"
     option is on.
+
   - When you press the hot key inside Word and the Save As dialog
is brought up, you must press ENTER to start Grammatik. Clicking
the OK button with the mouse will not start Grammatik.

   - Macros created in Word and assigned to quick keys Ctrl+0 through
Ctrl+9 will not work with the GMKWP command.

   - The Grammatik hot key won't work while a Word dialog is open.

   - Alt+DownArrow key won't drop down a list box when the Grammatik
     hot key is used.

   - Ctrl+tab will not insert a tab in a Word table when Grammatik is
running. Tab characters can be cut and pasted from
     outside the table.

+
   - You must use the alternate hot keys for the following:
Action Hot key (won't work) Alternate (will work)

        Open Ctrl+F12 Alt+Ctrl+F2
        Print Ctrl+Shift+F12 Shift+F9
        Next field F11 Alt+F1
        Prev field Shift+F11 Alt+Shift+F1

NOTE: You can change the default hot key for Grammatik from
Alt+G to Shift+F5 and Word's hot keys will work. You can
Change Grammatik's default hot key by choosing Word Processor
from the Preferences menu, and using the "Set Hot Key"
        command button.
+
 - This release of Grammatik 5 requires at least 471 kilobytes
of free RAM to run. You can use the DOS 'CHKDSK' command to see
how much free RAM is on your system. If CHKDSK reports less
than 482,304 bytes free, you will need to free conventional
   memory before running Grammatik 5.
